St. Croix— At the May 28 groundbreaking of a modern facility situated at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, Eagle Aviation LLC CEO Trond Osthaug hosted a ceremony with a diverse group of community and business leaders, as well as special guest speakers from MASA Assist, Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center, and the government of the Virgin Islands.

Eagle Aviation’s new 35,000 square feet facility will offer a unique opportunity to showcase the growing economy of St. Croix, the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, and show an expansion of services for general and commercial aviation. Having 25,000 square feet of hangar space and 10,000 square feet of office space, the new facility will be one of the largest and most modern of its kind anywhere, particularly in the Caribbean. Office space will offer a medical ready-room for stabilization of patients during air ambulance operations, as well as conference room and training room facilities.

Eagle Aviation announced the immediate availability of some services and presented a plan of scheduled services as the facility continues through construction. Eagle Aviation’s new facility will be the largest and most modern of its kind virtually anywhere, particularly in the Caribbean. Volume fuel sales pricing will be offered to all carriers, operators and customers. Aircraft hangar services, and servicing and maintenance will also be available.

The company also announced a partnership with Medical Air Services Association (MASA) to offer increased air ambulance services. sporting modern equipment and the fastest aircraft in the Caribbean. With four aircraft currently operational, it was revealed that MASA has plans to purchase two additional jet aircraft to add to the fleet.

As a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, Eagle Aviation will serve general and commercial aviation. As the business grows, the company is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy with employment and monetary infusion into businesses.

Eagle Aviation and MASA aircraft include two Bombardier LearJet 55 jet aircraft, a Beechcraft Super King Air and a Piper Navajo Panther. Charter and Air Ambulance service coverage area includes regions of the United States from Texas eastward to the East Coast, from the New England area south to the Gulf of Mexico; Central America; portions of South America and all of the Caribbean.

Eagle Aviation will host the Governor General’s Cup Caribbean Air Rally in April 2016 in St. Croix. The Air Rally is a 12-day Caribbean journey consisting of over 180 pilots that fly from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and fly throughout the Caribbean promoting the beauty of the islands and the hospitality of their people. This will be first time that the Air Rally will be stopping in St. Croix. There are plans to make the island a permanent annual stopover, enjoying its hotels, cuisine; transportation services and tourism.

Even pre-existing medical conditions are covered after only 90 days.”

The speakers at the May 28 event conveyed overwhelming support for the new venture. They included Dusty Cook, MASA Transport Director; Ms. Stephanie Williams, St Croix Administrator from the Governor’s office; Mr. Carlton Dowe, the Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA); Mr. David Mapp, Assistant Executive Director, VIPA; and Dr. Ken Okolo, Chief Operating Officer, Juan F. Luis Hospital.
