Nearly 15 Months After Stabbing, Suspect Extradited to St. Croix to Face Attempted Murder Charges

ST. CROIX — A man accused of repeatedly stabbing an adult male in November 2024 has been extradited back to St. Croix and formally charged following his apprehension in Puerto Rico, according to the V.I. Police Department. The suspect, identified by VIPD as 39-year-old Juan Gabriel Cintron Rodriguez, was returned to the territory on Tuesday, February 17 after waiving extradition in Puerto Rico. He is now facing multiple felony charges connected to the November 16, 2024 assault. According to the department’s release, the case began at approximately 8:47 p.m. on November 16, 2024, when the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched patrol officers to Juan F. Luis Hospital in reference to an assault. Officers made contact with the victim, described as an adult male, who reported that he had been stabbed several times by the suspect.
