Public Works Completes VITRAN Operations and Maintenance Facility in St. Thomas

The V.I. Department of Public Works (DPW) announced recently the completion of VITRAN's Operations and Maintenance Facility on St. Thomas. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Jan. 8 to celebrate the much-needed upgrades for this federally funded project. DPW said the project scope included the construction of a new bus wash pavilion, installation of an oil and water separator, as well as the removal of an existing chain link fence, which was replaced with cantilever fencing. Upgrades also included the installation of light poles, as well as the construction of a new concrete driveway and parking lot. The traffic flow was also redesigned for increased functionality. “This facility gives our maintenance personnel an improved working environment for conducting repairs,” said D.P.W.
