VIPD Arrests Gallows Bay Hardware Worker Accused of Embezzling Company Funds Through Gift Card Fraud

The V.I. Police Department’s Economic Crimes Unit has arrested 55-year-old Alicia Caleb, an employee of Gallows Bay Hardware, in connection with an embezzlement scheme that investigators say involved the theft of company funds and fraudulent use of store gift cards. According to police, the investigation began on August 20, 2025, when the business owner of Gallows Bay Hardware filed a formal complaint alleging employee embezzlement. Detectives uncovered a detailed scheme in which Caleb and a managerial accomplice allegedly conspired to divert company funds for their personal use. Investigators said that the accomplice, who held managerial authority, manipulated Gallows Bay Hardware’s gift card roster and provided Caleb with card information that both suspects used for their own benefit.
