Potential Tropical Depression to Form in Central Tropical Atlantic, Could Impact Lesser Antilles

The National Hurricane Center has issued an outlook regarding a tropical wave currently situated over the central Tropical Atlantic. As of 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, the wave was producing some disorganized showers and thunderstorms. According to the NHC, environmental conditions are becoming increasingly favorable for the gradual development of this system. There is a possibility that a tropical depression could form by early next week as the system continues its westward movement at a speed of 10 to 15 mph. The NHC's current forecast suggests that the system will approach the Lesser Antilles early next week before moving westward to west-northwestward across parts of the eastern Caribbean Sea by the middle of next week. As of now, the NHC estimates a low formation chance of near 0 percent within the next 48 hours. However, over the next seven days, the chance of formation increases to 40 percent.
