NHC Monitors Two Developing Systems in the Atlantic with Growing Potential for Tropical Depression Formation

The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring two weather systems in the Atlantic that show potential for tropical depression formation in the coming days, according to the latest update released at 2:00 a.m. on Monday. The first system, labeled AL92, is an area of low pressure producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms in the central tropical Atlantic. Environmental conditions are becoming increasingly favorable for development, and the NHC expects a tropical depression to form as the system meanders over the central Atlantic in the next few days. The system is forecast to move westward-northwestward at about 10 mph by midweek. The chances of formation are 60 percent over the next 48 hours and 70 percent within the next seven days, indicating a strong likelihood that the system could become a tropical depression as the week progresses.
