Major Cruise Investment and Waterfront Upgrades Planned for Frederiksted Following Seatrade Talks

A transformative plan to revitalize the Frederiksted waterfront is underway following strategic discussions between Virgin Islands officials and Royal Caribbean—the cruise line that currently brings over 80 percent of cruise visitors to St. Croix. Senator Kurt Vialet, who led a delegation at the 2025 Seatrade Cruise Global Conference, confirmed that proposed upgrades to the area include sweeping improvements designed to enhance both the resident and visitor experience. Plans involve the construction of a pedestrian bridge connecting sidewalks to the beach behind Fort Frederik, sidewalk repairs, revamped signage, and safety upgrades.
