Man Facing Felony DUI, Reckless Endangerment Charges After Leading Police on a Chase Through Charlotte Amalie

ST. THOMAS — A man who police say ran a red light before leading them on a high-speed chase through the streets of Charlotte Amalie is now facing several felony charges before the court.  According to court documents, officers were traveling eastbound on Veterans Drive during the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning, when they saw a white Toyota Corolla speeding in the opposite direction. When the Corolla reportedly ran the red light at the Konsprindsens Gade intersection, the officers turned on their flashers and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  The driver of the vehicle, instead of complying, reportedly sped up even more and ran four more red lights in an attempt to evade police. He swerved into oncoming traffic, causing several vehicles to have to quickly maneuver to avoid head-on collisions.
