Judge Temporarily Halts Biden's Student Loan Forgiveness Program Affecting Millions of Americans

The Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday temporarily halted the Biden administration from forgiving up to $20,000 in student loans per borrower, and the one-page order will remain in effect for a short period while the court considers a request from six Republican-led states to block the program's implementation. The program was scheduled to start on Oct. 23, but the court's order will push the start date back a few days. Biden administration officials have said it could take several weeks to process the bulk of the applications.
