New Program Offers $1,000 Bonus to Landlords Participating in Housing Voucher Program

The V.I. Housing Authority has announced the launch of the 2023 Landlord Incentive Program to help address the shortage of housing units available for rent in the territory. The program aims to reward private landlords who rent their qualified units to Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) applicants and participants. According to the VIHA release, under the program, landlords who initiate a new contract with an HCVP applicant or participant will receive a one-time $1,000 incentive bonus. If a landlord owns multiple units or a building with several units, each unit leased to an HCVP applicant or participant will receive the incentive bonus. The program is available until all funds are exhausted and is only applicable to new contracts executed between June 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023.
