Authorities Investigate Death of Man Found Near Juan Luis Hospital Fence

ST. CROIX — Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a deceased male near the Juan Luis Hospital in St. Croix early Friday morning. According to the V.I. Police Department, on January 3 at approximately 7:28 a.m., officers received a report from the 911 Emergency Call Center regarding a deceased individual found at the fence line behind the hospital. A nurse walking along the area near the generator room alerted the hospital’s law enforcement officer after observing a patient who appeared unwell. Upon reaching the individual, the officer found him unresponsive. A responding doctor arrived shortly thereafter and declared the man deceased at 7:30 a.m. According to investigations, the deceased had arrived at Juan Luis Hospital by ambulance and was registered at 12:32 p.m. the previous day.
