Bryan Calls June 12 Meeting to Address Southland Horse Racing Deal Concerns and Possible Revisions

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has called a June 12 stakeholder meeting on St. Croix to address concerns over the proposed Southland Gaming agreement to restore horse racing in the Virgin Islands, saying the administration is prepared to consider reasonable changes while keeping the focus on rebuilding the Randall “Doc” James Racetrack and returning the industry to operation. In a letter to Senate President Milton E. Potter, members of the 36th Legislature, Flamboyant Park Horsemen Association President Elroy Bates, St. Thomas-St. John Horsemen Association President Clinton Hedrington and Southland Gaming principal Robert E. Huckabee III, Governor Bryan asked stakeholders to submit written concerns, objections, proposed amendments and alternative recommendations by Friday, June 5, 2026.
