Police Investigating Shooting Incident That Occurred At Housing Community In St. Croix

ST. CROIX -- The Virgin Islands Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred this morning at 4:25 a.m. at the Candido Guadalupe Housing Community, according to a press release V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte issued this afternoon. According to the release, police officers, along with the force's forensic unit were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found spent shell casings and a vehicle that had been damaged by bullets, its windshield pierced with bullet holes. Mr. Dratte said there was no other information to share at this time, and that the incident was under investigation by the V.I.P.D.'s Criminal Investigation Bureau. According to a police source, gunshots also struck the apartment of a resident residing in building 7, who said her children were in the living room watching television into the early hours of Thursday morning when the shots rang out.
