91st Death in USVI Related to Covid-19 Announced

The V.I. Dept. of Health Thursday morning announced the 91st death in the U.S. Virgin Islands related to the novel coronavirus. "After further investigating cause of death and ensuring notification of next of kin, the Virgin Islands Department of Health is saddened to confirm the territory’s ninety-first death related to Covid-19. The deceased is a 75-year-old male on St. Thomas," stated the department via release. The 91st death announcement comes two days after the 90th, identified as an 84-year-old woman on St. Thomas. D.O.H. reported only 78 new Covid-19 infections Wednesday night, a sign that cases continue to level off following the massive decrease in active infections reported Tuesday when well over two thousand previously infected individuals were listed as recovered. Last week, hundreds of people were testing positive for the virus daily — at a point nearly 500 in one day — driven by the Omicron variant.
