Inspection Finds Clinton Phipps Racetrack Safe and in Great Condition

The Clinton Phipps Sr. Racetrack on St. Thomas has been found to be in “great condition” and safe for continued use following a recent independent inspection that evaluated the track’s running surface, subsurface, grade, and elevation. The assessment, conducted by a Florida-based company that specializes in thoroughbred tracks and arenas, found no immediate hazards and no significant deficiencies affecting safety or performance. The findings come as Southland Gaming continues to defend the condition of the track after incidents earlier this year led to its temporary closure. The inspection was carried out between March 20 and 21, according to the report. It examined the running surface and subsurface and included checks of grade and elevation at various points along the track.
