BMV Waives Late Fees for Online Vehicle Registration Renewals Through February

ST. CROIX — The V.I. Bureau of Motor Vehicles has announced a temporary waiver of late fees for vehicle registration renewals completed online, a move officials say is intended to encourage greater use of digital services while easing in-office congestion. According to a notice issued by the BMV on December 17, all late fees will be waived from December 18 through February 16, 2026, but only for customers who renew their vehicle registrations through the bureau’s online system. The waiver does not apply to in-person transactions. The bureau said the decision is part of its ongoing effort to improve customer convenience, reduce wait times at physical offices, and promote the use of online services.
