Three Arrested in St. John Drug and Firearm Bust During Targeted Surveillance Operation

ST. JOHN — A coordinated surveillance operation carried out by several divisions of the V.I. Police Department on Friday, April 4 resulted in the arrest of three men on charges related to firearms and narcotics. According to a VIPD release, between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., officers from the Special Operations Bureau, Marine Unit, and Intelligence Unit conducted a targeted operation in Cruz Bay and the surrounding areas. The focus of the effort was to identify individuals engaged in the sale of illegal narcotics. The surveillance led to the arrest of three individuals. Jah’Wada Jones, 33, was taken into custody and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm. His bail was set at $75,000. Alvin Grant, 30, and Jarius Penn, 25, were also apprehended during the operation. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
