Virgin Islands Educator Andre Douglas Honored with Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

The V.I. Department of Education announced Wednesday that it is celebrating the remarkable achievement of Andre Douglas, a mathematics teacher at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School (IEKHS), who has been honored with the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). Recognized as one of the nation’s highest distinctions for educators in these fields, the award is administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House. Mr. Douglas, a native of St. Thomas and an alumnus of Charlotte Amalie High School’s Class of 2003, has dedicated the past 15 years of his career to teaching at IEKHS, according to VIDE.
