Excessive Heat Warning Issued for St. Croix and Puerto Rico as Temperatures Soar

The National Weather Service in San Juan has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for multiple regions, including St. Croix, San Juan, North-Central Puerto Rico, Northwestern Puerto Rico, Western Puerto Rico, and Southwestern Puerto Rico, as heat indices are expected to exceed 108 degrees today. The warning will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. AST. A Heat Advisory has also been issued for St. Thomas, St. John, Eastern Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, Southeastern Puerto Rico, and South-Central Puerto Rico. Residents in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions as the heat threat is classified as elevated to significant, especially in lower elevations of the islands. The current weather pattern brings with it not only soaring daytime temperatures but also warm overnight conditions, preventing the usual nighttime relief.
