ST. THOMAS — Honeymoon Beach is one of the best in the region, according to readers of USA Today. The St. John beach was listed as one of the top 10 Best Caribbean Beaches in the publication’s 2024 Readers’ Choice travel awards.

Sitting at number 6 on the list of the 10 best beaches in the Caribbean, Honeymoon Beach, inside the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, boasts “soft white sand, shallow water, and shade from coconut palms,” according to the Readers’ Digest writeup.

“The patch reef on the beach's west side provides exceptional opportunities for snorkeling enthusiasts. This reef, located in relatively shallow waters, provides a unique chance to observe a vibrant array of fish, corals, turtles, and rays up close,” adds a Department of Tourism announcement about the recognition.

Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte reacted to the award with delight. "We are thrilled that Honeymoon Beach has been acknowledged as one of the top Caribbean beaches in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice travel awards,” said the commissioner. “This acknowledgment further highlights the U.S. Virgin Islands' innate beauty and its status as a top-tier vacation destination."

Nominees for the awards are submitted by a panel of travel writers and journalists with expertise in each category. The final nomination list is then selected by the 10Best editors, and presented to the public for online voting.
