Daryl Jaschen, the director of the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency has told voters not to let inclement weather prevent them from participating in Tuesday’s general election.
“The bottom line for tomorrow for all of us, do not let the weather be a reason not to vote and bring an umbrella along just in case,” he said during Monday’s weekly press briefing.
The forecast for tomorrow is expected to be a few isolated showers in the morning and increased showers after 1pm.
Still, precaution is being taken in relation to advising residents on the weather forecast and how it may affect their neighborhoods. VITEMA intends to meet with other critical agencies to keep residents up-to-date on the upcoming weather.
At 4pm this afternoon the agency along with the Board of Elections, the Department of public Works, VI Police, Fire & EMS met with the National Weather Service in Puerto Rico for a weather update in preparation for inclement weather and voting sites. A final meeting is set for 5a.m Tuesday, Mr. Jaschen said.
Rainfall over the weekend was recorded at 4 to 5 inches on St. Croix, 5 to 6 inches on St. John and 6 to 7 inches on St. Thomas.
