ST. CROIX — Two individuals were injured by gunfire at the Red Brick housing community late Wednesday night, resulting in both being admitted to the Juan F. Luis Hospital Emergency Room for treatment where they were listed as being in stable condition.

According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the 911 Emergency Call Center received notification of shots being fired in Red Brick, officially named the D. Hamilton Jackson Terrace, at about 9:43 p.m. Wednesday and officers were immediately dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, the officers learned that the victims, one male and one female, were transported by private vehicle to JFL. A preliminary investigation revealed that while the two individuals were standing outside Building 2 having a conversation, two cars drove up to them and individuals inside the vehicles started discharging shots at the two victims. Both were struck by bullets and were immediately rushed to JFL, Mr. Dratte said.

On Dec. 28, 2021, a young man was shot dead and another was injured during a shooting incident near the D. Hamilton Jackson Terrance beach. Two days later police arrested suspect Francis Javaughn, age 19, of the Ruby Rouse housing community and charged him with murder in connection with the incident. Bail was set at $1 million.
