ST.THOMAS — Detectives from the V.I. Police Domestic Violence Unit on Monday arrested 36-year-old Isaiah Simmonds of Estate Bovoni and charged him with first-degree assault, domestic violence.

Over the weekend, the male victim stated that he was assaulted by Simmonds with a crowbar and a brick during a disagreement. The victim sustained multiple injuries about the body in the incident.

No bail was set for Simmonds as per the Domestic Violence statutes, and he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.

Public health officials have said domestic violence is on the rise in the midst of the stay-at-home order instituted to slow the spread of coronavirus.
