ST. CROIX — A St. Croix man on Thursday was faced with a number of charges after allegedly threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and proceeded to light her apartment on fire, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
According to the V.I.P.D. news release, on Thursday at around 2:54 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Concordia East, where an adult female requested assistance with 53-year-old Jose Miguel Crispin of Old Fredensborg, her ex-boyfriend. Crispin allegedly threatened to kill the female and he lit her apartment on fire.
At about 6:26 a.m. Thursday, detectives of the Domestic Violence Unit arrested Crispin and charged him with first-degree arson, attempted murder, destruction of property and disturbance of the peace by threats, domestic violence charge.
Unable to make bail of $75,000, Crispin was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending his advisement hearing.
