ST. CROIX — Three reported incidents of domestic violence in St. Croix this week have resulted in arrests, with one assault reportedly occurring in a police station parking lot.

Vickson Randolph was arrested on Wednesday after reportedly assaulting his wife during the handover of their minor children. The parents each drove to the parking lot of the Wilbur Francis Command police station that afternoon.

According to the incident report, the children transferred from their mother's vehicle to their father's, after which Mr. Randolph came up to his wife's driver's side window. A comment thrown her way reportedly caused her to roll up the window, prompting Mr. Randolph to yank open the door and slap his wife across the face.

The officer who took the shaken woman's report minutes later noted her bloody nose and mouth, lacerations to her lips, and spots of blood on her clothing.

Mr. Randolph reportedly ignored police instructions to return immediately with the children, but returned to the station parking lot to drop them off on Wednesday evening. After trying to leave once more, he was eventually detained following a traffic stop. Under questioning, Mr. Randolph reportedly told police that when his wife rolled up the window during the argument earlier that day, he opened the vehicle's door and slammed it shut again.

A witness, however, corroborated the wife's story, and Mr. Randolph was arrested and charged with simple assault and battery, a misdemeanor offense. No records of his first court appearance, scheduled for July 31, have been made public as of press time.

Over the weekend, Travis Everett was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend after a night out. When they got back to her apartment around 4 a.m. on July 26, Everett reportedly asked to look through his girlfriend's phone.

She reported to police that Everett got enraged when she hid the device and told him she did not know where it was. The confrontation escalated until Everett allegedly began choking the woman. After struggling to break free of his grasp, Everett's girlfriend said she first ran to the neighbors for help. When nobody responded to her knocks, she ran into the street but the first vehicle she flagged down was an acquaintance of her boyfriend who declined to assist. Eventually, someone driving past agreed to take her to the police station.

Everett was arrested later that morning, and denied physically assaulting his girlfriend. Nevertheless, he was arrested and charged with second-degree assault as a crime of domestic violence, and disturbing the peace. A bail hearing was held on Wednesday, according to court records, but the outcome has not been published as of press time.

Domestic violence is not just restricted to assaults between current or former intimate partners, however. Agatha Sackey was arrested on Sunday after allegedly assaulting her sister after their mother took ill.

The older woman reportedly became unresponsive that afternoon, and Ms. Sackey's sister reportedly called out to her for assistance. An argument erupted between the two, resulting in Ms. Sackey reportedly throwing a metal tumbler at her sibling. The tumbler hit the other woman in the face, prompting a fight.

Ms. Sackey admitted throwing the tumbler at her sister, and to her role in the subsequent scuffle. She was arrested and charged with 3rd-degree assault and simple assault and battery, both as crimes of domestic violence.

During her advice of rights hearing, Magistrate Yolan Brow Ross found probable cause to uphold both charges against Ms. Sackey, and set bail at $25,000, satisfied by an unsecured bond.

The next court appearance for Ms. Sackey has been scheduled for August 13.
