GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Three members of a family were killed late Saturday when a fire – believed to have been deliberately started, engulfed their home on the outskirts of Georgetown.

It’s reported that the charred remains of  Beverly Williams, 4o, her husband, Marvin Ifill , 46 and son Dawall Ifill, 14, were found in the ashes of the Sixth Street Cummings Lodge property after firemen managed to put out the blaze.

It is suspected that the three were trapped in their apartment which was heavily grilled and the fire might have been started in an adjoining apartment at the property.

A relative of the dead persons explained that the property was in dispute between the relatives of its owner who passed away recently.

One of the late owner’s relatives was reportedly trying to get all tenants out of the building.

A man who was seen earlier at the apartment where the fire started has been arrested. An investigation is underway.
