Trinidad and Tobago Confirms First Case of Coronavirus

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Health Minister  Terrence Deyalsingh  on Thursday announced that someone in the twin island republic,  has tested positive for the novel coronavirus – COVID-19.

Speaking at a press conference immediately following a post-cabinet media briefing, Deyalsingh said  that the patient is a 52-year-old male resident of Trinidad and Tobago who  returned from Switzerland on Monday night.

Deyalsingh said the victim has been in self-isolation since Monday.

Despite the positive diagnosis, the Health Minister appealed  to  citizens to refrain from panicking and panic buying.
