In celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the Virgin Islands Carnival, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has declared administrative leave for non-essential government employees, providing ample opportunity for community involvement in this cherished local tradition. The leave period specifically facilitates participation in key Carnival events, extending through May 3rd, 2025.

According to Government House, Mr. Bryan's announcement includes detailed scheduling intended to maximize employee participation. For residents of St. Thomas and St. John, administrative leave will be granted on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, from noon to 5:00 pm to attend the Food Fair. Additionally, leave is approved on Thursday, May 1st, 2025, from 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. for the traditional J’ouvert celebration.

On a broader scale, government employees across the entire territory will enjoy administrative leave on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for the Children's Parade, an event widely enjoyed by community members of all ages.

Governor Bryan highlighted the importance of Carnival in strengthening the community’s bonds, stating, “Carnival is a cherished tradition that brings our community together, and I encourage everyone to participate in these festivities. By granting administrative leave, we hope to inspire involvement and celebrate our culture, unity, and the spirit of our islands.”

Mr. Bryan further encourages all residents, particularly government employees, to embrace this opportunity and fully engage with Carnival events.
