The V.I. Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau has arrested 33-year-old Levi Registe, a Smith Bay resident, on multiple charges, including third-degree assault, aggravated assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and making threats. The arrest follows a series of incidents that occurred on the evening of February 25 in Red Hook.

According to the VIPD, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a verbal disturbance and threats at Tap and Still, a popular Red Hook establishment. The complainant, concerned about Registe’s behavior, requested that he not return to the premises. However, by the time authorities arrived, Registe had already left the scene.

A short time later, officers located Registe nearby. During their interaction with him, they discovered multiple baggies containing what appeared to be marijuana in his possession. When officers informed Registe that his vehicle would be searched, he abruptly reversed his vehicle, striking two officers in the process before fleeing. One officer sustained visible injuries as a result of the impact.

Following an investigation, VIPD officers arrested Registe at 12:25 a.m. on Friday, February 28. His bail was set at $50,000, and he was transported to the Richard N. Callwood Command where he was processed and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.

The VIPD is encouraging anyone with additional information related to this case to come forward. Individuals can contact 911, Detective Y. LoBlack of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, or the Police Chief’s Office at (340) 774-2211. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through 1-800-TIPS.
