Man Dies After Shooting Near Tootsy’s Nightclub in Red Hook

Residents reported shots fired near Tootsy’s Nightclub shortly before 1:00 a.m., leading officers to a male with multiple gunshot wounds who was taken to Roy Lester Schneider Hospital and later died as the Major Crimes Unit continues its investigation.

ST. THOMAS — A man died early Sunday following a shooting in the area of Tootsy’s Gentlemen's Club in Red Hook, St. Thomas, according to the V.I. Police Department. The incident was reported on November 30 when citizens contacted the 911 Emergency Call Center at about 12:56 a.m. to report gunfire near the establishment.

Responding officers arrived and located a male who was responsive but appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency Medical Technicians made contact with him and transported him to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital for treatment. The man later succumbed to his injuries, the department confirmed.

The VIPD said the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken charge of the investigation as officers work to gather more information about the shooting.
