ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department has announced the arrest of 46-year-old Jimmy Davis for first-degree rape and first-degree assault following a sexual assault reported in Whim Gardens on December 31, 2024.

According to the VIPD, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a sexual assault at 11:05 a.m. on December 31. Responding officers made contact with the victim, who reported that Davis came to her residence and sexually assaulted her. Despite her attempts to defend herself, the victim stated that Davis overpowered her.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau launched an investigation into the incident, which ultimately led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Davis on January 17, 2025, by the Honorable Superior Court. Bail for Davis was set at $100,000.

After multiple attempts to locate Davis, members of the Special Operations Bureau, Intelligence Unit, and Marine Unit apprehended him on Wednesday, January 22, at approximately 5:00 a.m. in the Williams Delight residential area. Davis was arrested without incident but refused to cooperate with booking procedures. He was subsequently transported to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility, where he is being held pending his Advice of Rights hearing, scheduled for January 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

The VIPD commended the collaborative efforts of its specialized units in apprehending Davis.
