Castle Burke Homicide Under Investigation After Body Found With Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Police are investigating the death of 33-year-old Malik Anthony Francis, found unresponsive in the bushes in Castle Burke on Monday afternoon. EMTs pronounced him dead at the scene after discovering multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

ST. CROIX — A 33-year-old St. Croix man was found shot to death in Castle Burke on Monday afternoon after a resident alerted authorities to an unresponsive body lying in the bushes, prompting a homicide investigation by the Virgin Islands Police Department.

According to police, the 911 Emergency Call Center received the report at about 12:11 p.m. on November 17 from a concerned citizen who said a male appeared unresponsive in the area of Castle Burke, Frederiksted. Emergency Medical Technicians arrived on the scene and pronounced the man dead.

Investigators said the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. His next of kin identified him as Malik Anthony Francis, age 33.

The case remains under active investigation. The VIPD is urging anyone with information to contact 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211, or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
