ST. THOMAS — A man accused of sexually assaulting a minor has been arrested following an investigation by the V.I. Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.
According to the VIPD, authorities identified the suspect as 23-year-old Alfred King James. Investigators said James provided alcohol and narcotics to the minor before engaging in sexual intercourse and other explicit conduct, which was allegedly recorded.
The case was initiated after the victim reported the assault, prompting CIB detectives to launch an inquiry. Following the investigation, law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for James. On February 20, 2025, officers from the VIPD's Special Response Team, in coordination with the Florida Regional Caribbean Task Force, apprehended James. He was formally charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree rape, aggravated rape, unlawful sexual contact, computer pornography, distribution of a controlled substance to a minor, serving alcohol to a minor, and child abuse, among other related charges.
Bail for James was set at $150,000.
The VIPD reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the community and pursuing individuals who engage in the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors. Officials urge anyone with information related to this case to come forward.
