BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS — Oleanvine and Kadeem Maynard, the mother and son convicted alongside former BVI Premier Andrew Fahie on drug trafficking and money laundering conspiracy charges, have had their sentences significantly shortened,

In November 2023, Kadeem Maynard was sentenced to 4.75 years in jail for his role in the conspiracy, following a guilty plea on his part. Seven months later, his mother Oleanvine, the former managing director of the BVI Port Authority, was sentenced to nine years and four months for her part in the scheme to allow ships carrying cocaine to use BVI waters as safe harbor during their journey from Colombia to Miami. Her sentencing had been delayed to facilitate her testimony against Mr. Fahie during his 2024 trial.

Now, however, amid a flurry of sealed filings in the courts earlier this year, records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons indicates that those sentences will be significantly shortened.

The elder Maynard, who is currently in a halfway house managed by the Baltimore Residential Reentry Management Field Office, is set to be released next Friday, March 21.  Kadeem Maynard, meanwhile, will be freed on April 1. He is currently being held at a federal facility in Miami. The early release was first reported by BVI's 284Media.

Meanwhile, Mr. Fahie remains incarcerated at a federal correction facility in Georgia. His release is currently scheduled for June 4, 2033, in keeping with his 11-year sentence
