Man Fatally Shot in Frederiksted; Police Investigating Homicide

ST. CROIX — A late-night shooting in Frederiksted has left one man dead and prompted an active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau's Major Crime Unit. According VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte, at approximately 10:39 p.m., the 911 emergency call center received a report of gunfire in the Frederiksted area. While patrol units were being dispatched, additional calls came in, reporting further gunshots in Frederiksted Town. Among the subsequent calls was a report of a man lying on the ground. Responding officers arrived to find a Black male unresponsive in the eastbound lane north of the intersection at King Cross Street. Emergency Medical Services personnel attempted to render aid at the scene but observed no visible signs of life. According to preliminary findings, the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
