Man Beaten, Woman Shaken In Gallows Bay Robbery, Carjacking Attempt

Breaking News / News / Virgin Islands / September 4, 2014

At the scene of an attempted robbery that took place at around 10 p.m. Wednesday night, two armed men carjacked a white couple who were sitting in their grey car outside of No Bones Cafe in Gallows Bay.

The blaring sound of ambulance engulfed the area as paramedics made their way to the scene, with the V.I.P.D. responding at the same time. On the ground, a white male, ostensibly in his 60s, sat with a white cloth on one of his legs while talking frantically to onlookers coming from inside the No Bones Cafe restaurant.

There were two suspects involved in the robbery, both wearing gray masks according to one of the victims.

“They just looked so mean,” the female victim said, “not too tall but mean.”

The victim was clearly shaken, her voice exposing the fear that still gripped her: “Two of them were very close to the car, they both had handguns,” she managed. “They didn’t point the handguns at us or never said anything like ‘give me your stuff’, they were just going at him, and finally I just kept beeping the horn and screaming and then everybody came out, and that was it.”

The female victim said that the men also tried to steal the vehicle but they were unsuccessful.

The VI Consortium managed to grab a few shots of police and an ambulance on the scene, as well as the vehicle involved in the carjacking.  Find them below.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
