ST. THOMAS — Days after billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epsfein’s death by apparent suicide in a New York jail cell, federal authorities descended on Little St. James in St. Thomas, searching his private island for further evidence.
About a dozen agents with FBI markings across black jackets were photographed on the Epstein property, dubbed Pedophile Island by the locals who long knew about or suspected young girls were trafficked to the island and sexually abused.
A charterboat captain told the Consortium Monday that a dozen or more agents staged at the National Park dock on St. John for the short ride aboard fast-crafts to Mr. Epstein’s island.
U.S. Attorney Gretchen Schappert declined comment Monday. Calls to the Federal Bureau of Investigation offices on St. Thomas and San Juan were not returned.
“We were enjoying lunch when we saw over a dozen people getting off their speedboats and landing on the island,” a tourist who asked to remain anonymous told the DailyMailTV publication.
Mr. Epstein was frequently seen jetting into Cyril E. King Airport aboard his private aircraft accompanied by girls that appeared to be under-aged. Air traffic controllers told local media they joked about Mr. Epstein keeping company with children. None of the aviation workers appear to have reported what they suspected.
In Washington, Attorney General Willian Barr said investigators found “serious irregularities” at the Manhattan jail where Mr. Epstein was being held on sex-trafficking charges.
Some of disgraced billionaire’s victims have alleged they were used as sex slaves and repeatedly abused on Little St. James.
While law enforcement trained their attention Monday on the Epstein island located just off the eastern coast of St. Thomas, there was no known activity a short distance away at the American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook, where Mr. Epstein maintained a sprawling “office” now kept under padlock and key.
