Last updated on July 29 at 2:39 p.m.

As of 11:40 a.m. Monday, V.I.P.D. officers were descending on the Harbor View area in Christiansted in regards to an active shooting incident, according to multiple reports. V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer confirmed the ongoing incident to The Consortium.

The matter was the second time a shooting was reported at the Harbor View area. The earlier incident, which occurred sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., was described by Mr. Dratte as a “discharging of shots” occurrence. He said the shots were fired at an individual but no injuries were reported.

The shooting follows Sunday night’s incident in Frederiksted that left 6 people injured, including one person who had to be airlifted out of the territory for further medical attention. Mr. Dratte could not say whether this morning’s shooting was connected to the Sunday night gun battle.

Today at about 11:26 p.m., Government House announced a press conference to address the recent shootings. The press conference will be held at Gov’t House on St. Croix at 1:30 p.m. The Consortium will be carrying it live.

This is a developing story.
