Bryan And Mapp Head To Runoff With Bryan In Lead

Breaking News / Featured / News / Politics / Top Stories / Virgin Islands / November 7, 2018

Governor Kenneth Mapp and Albert Bryan will face off in a runoff election on November 20, after the respective teams failed to collect the required 50 plus 1 percent of the votes needed for victory.

The runoff election has always been predicted by political observers, pointing to Mr. Mapp’s strength on St. Croix and his weakness on St. Thomas, while Mr. Bryan’s strength from the onset has been in St. Thomas.

Mr. Bryan is going into the runoff with the lead, according to the unofficial results as of 9:48 p.m.

“No questions the territory has spoken in two strong voices,”  Mr. Mapp said at his St. Croix headquarters tonight. He said St. Thomas was clear in its decision, while St. Croix spoke resoundingly as well.

In his remarks, Mr. Bryan said Virgin Islanders saw value in changing course for a better future. Both candidates said they would be seeking to forge bounds the candidates who did not succeed in the runoff.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
