Limetree Bay Awards Scholarships To 20 VI Students Headed To College

ST. CROIX — Limetree Bay Terminals has awarded scholarships to twenty 2018 graduates of Virgin Islands high schools to assist them in their pursuit of a degree at an accredited U.S. college or university, the terminal recently announced.

The scholarship recipients are:

• Ali Boucenna, who plans to attend Arizona State University
• M’Kaila Caines, who plans to attend the University of the Virgin Islands
• Darwin Christian III, who plans to attend the University of the Virgin
  Islands
• Danielle Coleman, who plans to attend Nova Southeastern University
• Jalen Frances, who plans to attend Georgetown University
• Hezekiah George, who plans to attend Bradley University
• Ajani Gordon, who plans to attend Florida Institute of Technology
• Lileth Grouby, who plans to attend the University of the Virgin Islands
• Najae Harris, who plans to attend the University of the Virgin Islands
• Micah Hill, who plans to attend La Roche College
• Brianna John-Baptiste, who plans to attend Iona College
• Taylor Lampkin, who plans to attend Lincoln University
• Diamond Mark, who plans to attend Smith College
• Sparkle Mark, who plans to attend George Washington University
• Varuna Mirchandi, who plans to attend Suffolk University
• Aria Rawlings, who plans to attend Eckerd College
• Sumaiyah-Nadira Richardson, who plans to attend the University of the Virgin Islands
• Kadysha Schoonmaker, who plans to attend La Roche College
• Mansi Totwani, who plans to attend Princeton University
• Chelsea Valery, who plans to attend Johns Hopkins University

The recipients were selected based on their scholastic record and financial need compared to other applicants. These scholarships will continue for four years, provided the students maintain good academic standing at an accredited U.S. college or university, according to the Limetree Bay release. The terminal said it has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year.

Limetree Bay CEO Darius Sweet congratulated all the scholarship recipients and said that supporting the education of students in the Virgin Islands community will continue to be a priority for company.

“Education is key to the continued growth of the community as well as Limetree’s organization,” Mr. Sweet said. “Limetree is proud to support these students and recognizes their hard work and dedication to education. We encourage them to remain committed to their pursuit of higher education and return home as good stewards of their community.”
