ST. THOMAS — The territory’s children — more pointedly those who make it to carnival this year in St. Thomas — will be treated to some new rides, according to a release the V.I. Carnival Committee issued Wednesday.
According to the release, the committee accepted a proposal from St. Croix’s Zephyrinus Thomas, owner of “ILand Rides”, to provide rides for the children’s village nightly at the Fort Christian Parking Lot beginning April 20.
Halvor Hart III, excutive director of the committee, said it was time to upgrade the rides and provide the children of the territory with an experience that is second to none, according to the release. “In response to the public’s cry year after year for newer rides and the successful execution of the rides at St. Croix’s festival earlier this year, we felt it was time to make a change and support a local businessman,” Mr. Hart said.
The release says with the addition of the new rides, the committee is hoping that carnival in St. Thomas this year will be a stress reliever, presumably following the ferocious 2017 storms that wreaked havoc across the territory.
