ST. THOMAS — A man was arrested for allegedly beating a female acquaintance with his closed fist about the body and on her head on Monday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

Police received notification of the incident, which occurred in Anna’s Retreat, at about 11:03 a.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival to the scene, the V.I.P.D.’s domestic violence unit made contact with the victim, who told police that the suspect, Mario Aubain, above, punched her with his closed fist about her body and her head.

Police say the victim sustained injuries to her right cheek, right hand, and hair was ripped from her scalp.

Mr. Aubain, 45, was arrested on Thursday and charged with simple assault after being positively identified by the victim as the person who assaulted her.

The suspect was booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing, according to police.
