St. Croix Rescue Comes To Aid Of Tourist Injured At Tide Pools

ST. CROIX — The St. Croix Rescue Squad responded on Thursday to a dispatch from the 911 emergency call center about a woman with an injured ankle near the tide pools in Annaly Bay, at about 1:26 p.m.

According to a press release also issued on Thursday, the woman, a tourist, and two friends had taken the trail from the Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa. She had fallen near the trail that comes down to the beach and tide pools from Scenic Drive. It is this trail that is used for vehicles.

Rescue members accessed the woman by driving down in Cmdr David Goodrich’s Jeep and Wave Phillips’ of Tan Tan Tours Jeep. A medical assessment was performed by Field Operations Officer/EMT Jason Henry; the woman’s leg was packaged and she was loaded into the Cmdr Goodrich’s Jeep along with FOO Henry. The other women rode out in Tan Tan Tours’ Jeep with Sgt. Keith Francois.

The women were taken up to the Beast where EMS was waiting. The injured woman declined further treatment by EMS and signed a waiver stating so.

St. Croix Rescue again thanked Tan Tan Tours for their assistance.
