Business / Caribbean / Entertainment / News / Virgin Islands / June 27, 2015

ST. THOMAS – On Tuesday evening, AeroMD was pleased to host a dinner and mini Carnival celebration as part of the 22nd Annual USVI Destination Symposium, according to a press release AeroMD issued on Thursday.

The event was held for top travel industry executives at AeroMD’s Air Ambulance hangar on the grounds of the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas.

AeroMD President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brendan Anzalone said, “As a proud sponsor of this year’s symposium, we are honored to showcase the life-saving services now available in the territory. In the event of a medical emergency, AeroMD’s world-class capabilities provide unparalleled avenues of critical care for visitors, as well as residents—an important component in the territory’s infrastructure. We are a resource.”

The event was created to provide a unique and entertaining platform to highlight AeroMD’s mission to provide emergency aeromedical transport and save lives, while focusing on the critical role of business-government partnerships in helping shape the territory’s tourism product.

Representatives from the nation’s top travel companies enjoyed various Virgin Islands cultural traditions in a meet-and-greet setting that included a mini carnival celebration, a dinner of local cuisine, Mocko Jumbies entertainment, performances by the Hugga Bunch dancers, music by The Simon Gusty Letteome Junior Band, as well as tours of AeroMD’s aircraft.

Over 60 travel industry executives attended the USVI Destination Symposium event hosted by AeroMD on Tuesday June 23, 2015.

Over 60 travel industry executives attended the USVI Destination Symposium event hosted by AeroMD on Tuesday June 23, 2015.

In total, over 60 guests attended the dinner and other activities.

The travel representatives are visiting the territory this week to meet with local partners on St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John to discuss new and current tourism products and to showcase the destination, including visits to resorts.

Dr. Anzalone stated, “Outside of our focus on emergency, aeromedical transport, AeroMD’s message is one of compassion, collaboration and community. The opportunity to bring all of these individuals together enabled an important dialogue given the synergies and linkages with Virgin Islands tourism efforts.”

AeroMD is an aeromedical transport provider in the territory and operates its own fleet of medically-equipped and staffed aircraft. The St. Thomas-based company provides immediate, high-level ICU care 24/7/365 days per year.

AeroMD appreciates the support of the following entities for their efforts in coordinating USVI Destination Symposium events: USVI Hotel and Tourism Association, USVI Department of Tourism, the West Indian Company Limited, Cape Air’s Birds Eye View magazine, Seaborne Airlines, Tropic Tours, VI Destination Management Services, the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef, Dreams Sugar Bay St. Thomas, the Palms at Pelican Cove, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, the Westin St. John Resort and Villas, Caneel Bay, Best Western Plus Emerald Beach Resort, and Windward Passage Hotel.
