ST. CROIX – An Estate Golden Rock man is lucky to be alive today after being shot once in the chest while lying in his bed, according to police.

Police responded to an emergency call at 2:30 a.m. Sunday May 10 that a gunshot victim was being treated at the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

Detectives and officers responded to the call and met the victim – who was transported there in a private vehicle – at the medical facility to gather information on the incident, according to police.

The victim, a resident of Harbor View Apartments, stated that he was lying in bed when he heard two gun shots and felt being struck by the second shot in his chest area, police said. The victim said that he did not know who shot him.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the matter.
