In Memoriam | Barbara June Frost

Barbara June Frost, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 72. She was a trailblazer in the Virgin Islands Fire Department, becoming the first female firefighter in the territory and dedicating 28 years of service before retiring as a Captain. She also served as the lead instructor for the VI Fire Service Dive Rescue Squad, training and mentoring countless firefighters in life-saving water rescue techniques.

Beyond her career in fire service, Barbara was a devoted author of Christian books, using her writing to inspire and uplift others.

She is survived by her loving spouse, Alexandro Rivera; aunt-in-law, Charlotte Frost; mother-in-law, Margarita Belardo; sisters-in-law, Sulma Rivera-Soto and Gloribel Corriette; brothers-in-law, Maximiliano Soto Jr. and Andrew Corriette Jr.; nephews, William Ray Kerber, Joseph Paul Schmalke, Maximiliano Soto III, Alexander Soto, and Andrew Corriette III; and nieces, Camille Danielle Lachance, Neysha Jagrup, and Alina Corriette.

She also leaves behind dear friends, Peggi Morris, Tanya Morris, and LeAnn Morris, along with many more family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

A funeral service will be held in West Monroe, Louisiana, where she will be laid to rest.

Barbara’s legacy as a pioneer, mentor, and author will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her contributions to the Virgin Islands Fire Service will not be forgotten.
