The National Weather Service in San Juan has forecasted a significant probability of above-normal rainfall for the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from May 22 through June 4. The likelihood of experiencing higher-than-average rainfall exceeds 50% during this period, with certain areas having probabilities greater than 65% and even 80%.

While the prediction points to a wetter-than-usual timeframe, the NWS cautions that this does not necessarily imply a high risk of considerable flooding. However, residents and relevant authorities are advised to review and prepare their plans for managing wet periods and potential flooding.

The Climate Prediction Center’s outlook, which integrates conditions over a seven-day period, is updated weekly and focuses on broad-scale weather patterns for U.S. interests.
