The latest round of power rotations on St. Thomas and St. John has come to an end. On Thursday evening, the Water and Power Authority issued an announcement informing the public that current levels of diesel are sufficient to fuel normal operations until another shipment arrives on Saturday.

“We are taking proactive steps to maintain a stable and reliable fuel supply to support our operations and the increased needs of our community," WAPA said. "This includes working closely with our suppliers, optimizing our fuel procurement processes, and continually monitoring our reserves. Likewise, we are pursuing efforts to diversify power sources, including forging forward with renewable energy partnerships and installation of battery energy storage systems.”

Virgin Islanders, frustrated by years of instability in the territory’s power grid, were thanked for their “patience, understanding, and commitment” during this week’s scheduled outages.
