Fly the Whale is expanding its footprint in the region, announcing that beginning September 15, 2025, it will launch three new daily round-trip flights between St. Croix’s Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) and San Juan International Airport (SJU). The service will connect residents and visitors to Puerto Rico for business, medical, and leisure travel, while also offering seamless onward connections through SJU’s main terminal.
Flights will arrive and depart from the Jet Aviation Fixed Base Operator (FBO) on the east side of SJU, located just seven minutes from the main terminal. A complimentary shuttle will be provided for guests traveling from St. Croix to the terminal. Passengers heading to Jet Aviation from the terminal will need to arrange transportation via taxi or ride-share.
Seats are now available at www.flythewhale.com or by calling 800-468-8639.
The launch follows Fly the Whale’s successful April 2023 debut of daily flights between St. Croix and St. Thomas, which have already transported tens of thousands of passengers. Company President Shane Reynolds described the new route as “a great opportunity for our valued guests to travel to San Juan for onward connections, business, medical care, and those seeking a getaway to the beautiful islands of Puerto Rico and St. Croix.”
The carrier emphasized its commitment to safety, reliability, comfort, and friendly service, noting that its full-time scheduled airline team is based in St. Croix. Fly the Whale says the expansion will support economic growth in the territory by improving travel convenience and re-establishing the “ease and joy” of regional flights.
Founded in 2006, Fly the Whale offers scheduled and on-demand charter services in the Northeast U.S., Florida, the Caribbean, and The Bahamas. In addition to its USVI routes, the airline began daily service between Westerly, Rhode Island, and Block Island in November 2024.
