As part of the University of the Virgin Islands' 2024 Homecoming celebration, the Reichhold Center of the Arts (RCA) and UVI President Dr. Safiya George are inviting the community to “Sessions on the Floor,” a free musical concert set for Saturday, November 2.

The concert will serve as a capstone event for UVI’s Homecoming Week, which has been packed with activities across the university's St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses, aimed at bringing together alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the broader Virgin Islands community.

Scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. at the Elridge W. Blake Sports and Fitness Center on the Orville E. Kean Campus in St. Thomas, the evening begins with a cocktail hour featuring a cash bar, tapas, and music by DJ Pete. Hosted by Dionne Donadelle, the event will showcase a lineup of talented local musicians, including La Voix, Louis Taylor, Broc Lee, Lourdes, and Sherwin Williams, promising a night filled with vibrant performances that celebrate Virgin Islands artistry.

“UVI Homecoming Week has been an incredible opportunity to reconnect and network with alumni, showcase UVI talent, and engage with the community,” said Dr. George. “At UVI, we are proud to be an integral part of the Virgin Islands community and invite one and all to join us for an evening of great music and celebration of our UVI pride.”

RCA Sessions is a concert series that exclusively spotlights local Virgin Islands talent, taking place in various settings while the Reichhold Center for the Arts undergoes reconstruction. Denise Humphrey, RCA’s Director, expressed her enthusiasm about the concert lineup, noting, “We are excited to bring together such a diverse group of local performers to create a one-of-a-kind concert that will surprise and delight.”

While the event is free, attendees are required to RSVP due to limited seating. To reserve a spot, community members can visit the UVI Events Calendar. For those interested in supporting the ongoing reconstruction efforts at the Reichhold Center for the Arts, donations can be made online through the UVI website.
